"A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we're pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we're safe in our own paradise. Our soulmate is someone who shares our deepest longings, our sense of direction. When we're two balloons, and together our direction is up, chances are we've found the right person. Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life."

The best things...
A wonderful person once told me that some of the best things on this planet are the things that just can't be explained.
Why do we try to explain everything?
Why does everything have to "make sense"?
I don't want to explain everything...
and sometimes life just doesn't make sense.
If what you're doing feels good and makes you happy...keep doing it...stop trying to explain it.
So what... if it doesn't make sense.
So what... if other people don't get it.
So what...
SO WHAT!
Some of the best things on this planet are the things that just can't be explained.
I like that...
and I don't have to explain it to anyone.

Wink, Smile, Gaze, Whisper
"The soul that can speak through the eyes, can also kiss with a gaze"...
~ Gustav Adolfo Becquer
...listen with the heart
...caress with a smile
...speak volumes with a whisper
...and make a man melt with a wink.

"If only you could sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person."
~Fred Rogers
What will you leave?
Will you help boost someone's self-esteem or chip away at it?
Will you fill that person's heart with love or break it?
Will you foster his/her creativity or stifle it?
Will you encourage or discourage?
Remember...the ramifications of what you do and say are boundless...where do YOU draw that line?
Will you have a positive impact?
Will you be remembered for your kindness or cruelty?
Think about that the next time you hear an off-color joke or someone pokes fun at somebody else's misfortune.

in love
in my children
in my students
that everyone has the potential for greatness
if we help one person, we set off a chain reaction. When or where that reaction stops is impossible to tell.
we should always reach for the stars but keep our heads out of the clouds.
going through this world without goals is merely existing. Having goals and working to achieve them is truly living.
I was meant to be a teacher...in this time, in this place, and that all of the adversity I overcame was simply additional training for the job.
I wouldn't trade any of it.

Great Letterboxing Weekend!
We headed out to the Northwest side of Indy and into Carmel and Westfield to search for some new boxes and revisit an old one. The majority were placed by Cap'n Jack. The others were his sister's (dream a dream). We were very pleased with the weather, the hunts, the wonderful clues, and the locales we visited. Check out the pics!

South Dakota!
This trip was a trip of firsts...first plane ride, first trip so far away from home, first climb to the top of a mountain, first chairlift ride, first out of state education conference, first meal of buffalo meat, and the list goes on.
I took so many great photos! I especially love the ones with the Cat in the Hat that Bailey sent on the trip with me. After the first couple of strange looks when I was placing this stuffed animal for a photo, I didn't even think twice about what I was doing. It was great fun!

Kinda gives new meaning to "Small Town" doesn't it?!
This play area in Carmel's Coxhall Gardens is comprised of several small town facades that the kids (big kids too) can play in.
Kids in a Candy Store!
Yep, that's Bailey and Bryan in the windows!
Bustin' Out!
Well, we actually bailed him out! Okay, he walked out!
Clock Tower at Coxhall Gardens
The bells in this tower don't just chime on the hour, they actually play entire songs! Beautifully played music on a beautiful day!
Bear Butte
This mountain is a sacred place for many Native people. My principal, 2 co-workers, 2 children, and I climbed to the top of this mountain!
WOW!
Movies and pictures just don't do this monument justice. You just have to see it in person. (The tiny people on Roosevelt's head were setting up the 4th of July fireworks.)
Ace in the Hole Saloon in Deadwood, SD
The little blue sign in the upper right reads, "No Fartin', No Spittin', No Swarin'" I really like this photo!
Nature has a way of takin' care of herself
This tree (at the top of the Alpine Slide mountain in Keystone, SD) is growing right out of the rocks!
Careful where you sit!
Wild Bill's Death Chair is displayed in an alcove above the door to Saloon No.10 in Deadwood, SD.
Cat in the Hat
Here he is hangin' out at the top of the Alpine Slide mountain in Keystone, SD.
Rapid City, SD
This shot was taken from the top of Dinosaur Park (which is really a mountain that contains 7 life size metal dino sculptures).
There's dinosaurs in them thar hills!
We picked the perfect time to visit Dinosaur Park! The lighting gives the dinos a life-like appearance.
I'm comin', I'm comin'!
This is the view you get when you walk back DOWN Mt. Moriah (the final resting place of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane). It was one hefty hike UP, let me tell ya!
